Reasons of Stammering

Published by atreyee at 12:12 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

THROAT MUSCLE: The main culprit

According to me, stammering occurs mainly due to irregularity in the contraction & relaxation mechanism of throat muscle(i.e.the muscle surrounding the vocal cord). While a normal person speaks, his throat muscle once contracts, immediately the next moment it relaxes. This alternate contraction & relaxation of the throat muscle enables a person to speak. In normal person this mechanism is carried out at the person’s own will, but in stammerers once the throat muscle contracts it couldn’t be relaxed. This situation further aggravates during excessive tension, fear, nervousness, heated arguments, etc.In other words,in normal people the throat muscle is voluntary, but in stammerers it is involuntary. The problem is more often than not, inborn & is very much hereditary.

The same reason why males stammer more than females:

When a girl dances she looks very nice. But just imagine a macho man dancing with an eastern classical song!!!He would become the greatest joke of the city!!This is because a male’s body muscles are stiff, rigid & inflexible. They don’t possess the flexibity & softness required for dancing, while a girl possess that quality. So leave alone throat muscle,a girl’s entire body muscles are very soft, smooth & flexible. They can easily move their throat muscle while speaking, without any contraction-relaxation problem. So stammering is rarely seen in females.
